Celler La Salada ‘El Pagès Content’ Orange 2022

In general, La Salada’s ‘Pagès Content’ (‘Happy Farmer’) wines are meant to honor the Catalan farming families of the past who worked their land as a vocation, with enthusiasm and love. These old folks are the inspiration for Toni Carbó’s easygoing wines, based on whichever fruit the year grants. The ’21 orange version is mostly Macabeu, with a touch of Xarel.lo (and even 5% Sumoll blended in); it’s a tangerine, peach-skin, lightly herbal joy. Quaffable, meant to be had with boquerones, jamón, all the snacks. Super limited: only one case of this wine to be had each year!
