Variety: Gamay
The brothers Antoine and Maxime were in hot pursuit of new challenges beyond the Rhone valley due likely to their love for the Gamay grape. And so began their new endeavor as a force to be reckoned with in a region currently experiencing viticultural renaissance. The granite hillsides are excellent for making a dense and chiseled example of Beaujolais while still remaining fresh and crushable. The brothers are making all the appropriate decisions in keeping their grapes organic, the vineyards biodynamic, and the winery itself sustainable.
Roche Guillon is located at 300 meters and is one of the highest vineyards in Fleurie with 45+ year old vines. While Gamay is classically known as a light bodied wine, the winemaking behind this might remind you of a Syrah–fitting as the brothers’ full-time focus is Syrah.
