Variety: Pinot Noir and Gamay
Domaine Forey’s estate dates back to 1840, created by the great grandfather of current proprietor, Régis. Since the first visit to the Forey domain in 1982, the wines were exported immediately since that initial visit when importer Neal Rosenthal tasted the 1980 vintage. Jean Forey was making the wine at this time, and his son Jean began full-time operations in 1987. He became fully responsible for all wine making decisions with the 1989 vintage. Different from the wines of his father, who produced seductive wines with finesse and elegance, Régis chose to showcase the masculine side of Burgundy with wines of intensity and depth. The family holdings include Nuits Saint Georges, Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echezeaux.
Passetoutgrain is such a fun style and the perfect way to make wine at more modest price points from producers who often command higher price points. Equal parts Gamay and Pinot Noir are coplanted together between two different parcels in Morey and Nuits. The wine is aged in stainless steel for twelve months with no oak usage.
