Les Vignes Z (Thomas Zurbach) “Lanterne Rouge” 2020

This red from the central Loire Valley region of Anjou, made of 100% Grolleau, is a wine of honesty and class. Peering through its translucent cherry color in the glass, it exudes freshness, rusticity, and a casual elegance. Aromas of tart cherry and almost-ripe raspberry are offset with rose bush, pear skin, fresh cut grass, and hibiscus tea. A light prickle on the palate settles quickly and reveals a lean, gentle juiciness that’s floral and cherried with pleasantly bitter flavors of pomegranate tea and bay leaves. Best with a light chill and exceedingly refreshing when fully chilled. No sulfur added this vintage. Alex Alan
