Variety: Chardonnay
Phillip Valette is often noted as the godfather of natural wine, especially within the region of Macon in southern Burgundy. He is the third generation to farm in his family in the village of Chaintre. His family is also reportedly the first in the region to start making his own wine with the family’s fruit versus selling it to the negociant. These are rare bottles to come by.
This fruit comes from 65 year old vines which is where the Vieilles Vignes designation comes from. The wine is aged mostly in barrel with 20% aged in steel.
