About the Winemaker
Tinto Amorio is a California natural wine project founded by Anish Patel after a near-fatal accident led him to reevaluate his life and pursue his passion for winemaking. Based in the Bay Area, the project focuses on skin-contact whites and minimal-intervention reds sourced from organic vineyards.
Anish Patel’s journey to winemaking came through adversity—a serious accident that prompted a complete life change. With no formal wine training, he learned through experimentation and mentorship from natural winemakers in California and beyond. His wines reflect a deeply personal approach, combining unconventional techniques with heartfelt dedication.
Farming & Cellar: Tinto Amorio sources from certified organic vineyards throughout California, focusing on sites farmed with regenerative practices. Anish employs extended skin maceration for his orange wines, ferments with indigenous yeasts, and ages in neutral vessels. Wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur, embodying a philosophy of non-intervention.
