Bichi, which means ‘naked’ in the Sonoran Yaqui language, where winemaker Noel Téllez hails from, embodies true originality and tradition. Founded in 2014 and based in Tecate, Bichi’s commitment to minimal intervention and dry-farmed heirloom vineyards encapsulates Baja’s rich viticultural history. Employing biodynamic farming and wild yeast fermentations in locally crafted concrete amphorae, El Heroe is a 100% Grenache sourced from 80-year-old vines in Tecate, aged in stainless steel, and bottled without fining, filtering, or sulfur additions.
